Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences faculty member Assoc. Dr. Özge Şensoy was awarded the TÜBA-Outstanding Young Scientist Award.

“100th Anniversary TÜBİTAK and TÜBA Science Awards Ceremony” was held at Beştepe Nation Congress and Culture Center with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Our rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Ceran also attended the ceremony and our Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences faculty member Assoc. Dr. Özge Şensoy, who was previously entitled to receive the Turkish Academy of Sciences Outstanding Young Scientist (TÜBA-GEBİP) award for her studies within the scope of “Computational Physics and Structural Biology,” in the field of “Natural Sciences”, was presented with the award by President Erdoğan.

ABOUT THE TÜBA-GEBİP AWARDS

The TÜBA-GEBİP Award, which has a special importance in terms of Turkey’s promotion and relations in the international scientific community and the encouragement of outstanding young scientists and their ability to continue their studies in Turkey, was awarded to 34 outstanding young scientists from 24 different universities in 2023 and the number of scientists who won the TÜBA-GEBİP Award until today increased to 644. In 2021, Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Business and Management Sciences Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Hasan Dinçer, in the field of social sciences, and faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Muhammed Fatih Toy, in the field of engineering sciences, was deemed worthy of the TÜBA-GEBİP Award.

TÜBA-GEBİP Awards have been held since 2001 to reward and encourage outstanding young scientists working in the fields of nature, engineering, health sciences, and social sciences to continue their scientific studies in Turkey, to form their own working groups, and to publish internationally qualified projects originating from Turkey. Within the scope of the unique and high-demand program, award winners are provided with financial support of 50 thousand lira every year for 3 years and an additional 15 thousand lira every year for doctoral students at the thesis stage, and they are also provided with consultancy by academy members.
