Istanbul Medipol University Biomedical Engineering students Layla Fayoumi and MHD Homam Alhaj Ali, mentored by Dr. K. Banu Köse, a faculty member of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, proudly represented our faculty at the 31st International Student Congress of (bio)Medical Sciences (ISCOMS), held at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) in the Netherlands.

ISCOMS is one of the world’s leading student congresses in the field of (bio)medical sciences, bringing together students, researchers, and professionals from across the globe. Throughout the event, Layla and Homam participated in academic sessions, networking activities, and workshops that deepened their understanding of international biomedical research and innovation.

As part of the congress’s Pediatric Buddy Program, they visited the UMCG Pediatrics Department, engaging in creative, hands-on educational activities with young patients. This initiative aims to foster compassion and scientific curiosity through joyful and meaningful interactions between medical students and children receiving treatment.

This enriching experience provided our students with valuable international exposure, cross-cultural exchange, and insight into patient-centered care models, aligning with the core values of biomedical engineering education.

We congratulate Layla Fayoumi and MHD Homam Alhaj Ali for their outstanding representation of Medipol University and their continued commitment to scientific development and human-centered innovation.
